Hundreds Gather At Mt. Pinos For Perseid Meteor Shower

Between approximately 2:00 and 3:00 a.m. on August 13, 2026, large crowds gathered near the Mt. Pinos Nordic Base at the end of Cuddy Valley Road for an overnight view of the night sky.

Hundreds of vehicles could be seen traveling up and down the mountain, with cars lining portions of the roadway as people gathered to watch and photograph the meteor shower.

Video from the mountain captured views of the night sky along with the large turnout of people making the late-night trip for the celestial event.
