Humble: Teenage Girl Shot While Playing With AK-47

12.04.2018 | 2:30 PM | HUMBLE  – A teenage girl was hospitalized in critical condition after she accidentally shot herself while toying with a friend’s AK-47 rifle, Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies responded to the reported shooting in the 4000 block of Winter Green Drive in the Humble around 2:30 PM.

Units arriving on scene found a group of teenagers including a girl who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

Firefighter paramedics arrived on scene shortly after and treated the 17-year-old girl on scene before transporting her to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.

Authorities reported that a preliminary investigation indicated a group of three teenagers, two females and one male, were outside a home when the male retrieved an AK-47 rifle from his home.

The group began toying with the rifle before the female victim discharged the weapon.

A plethora of deputies were on scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

It was unclear what, if any, charges might be filed.
