Human Smuggling Boat Lands On Beach

DETAILS:
- A SD City Lifeguard was on patrol near “WindandSea” beach when he spotted a suspicious-looking boat approaching the shore and heading north.
- He called the sighting to his dispatcher and continued to follow the boat.
- He lost sight of the boat, and the 911 dispatchers started to receive calls from the public telling them that a boat landed on the beach, and up to 15 people jumped off and started to run off the beach to the city streets.
- The lifeguard found approx 8 of them running and asked them if they needed any medical help; they kept running.
- The boat had gas cans and approx 12 or more life-preservers onboard.
- This is the second Human Smuggling boat within 24 hours to have landed on the La Jolla shoreline and the 3rd landing along the San Diego coast in the last five days, with one landing on Dog Beach on the 27th of July.
- A 4th landing on July 18th in Mission Beach.
- The U.S. Border Patrol and the U.S. Coast Guard were notified.
- The smugglers painted this boat gray for camouflage.
