HPD Patrol Unit Crashes Into Apartment Building on Gessner

DETAILS:
- Officers responded to a crash involving a police unit and a citizen’s vehicle on Gessner.
- Preliminary information indicates the citizen’s vehicle was traveling south on Gessner and attempted to make a left turn into an apartment complex.
- The police unit was traveling northbound on Gessner when the two vehicles collided.
- After the collision, the police vehicle went through the gate of the apartment complex and struck an apartment building.
- Both the driver and passenger of the police vehicle were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
- The driver of the citizen’s vehicle was also transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
- DWI specialists are evaluating the driver of the citizen’s vehicle, and it is unknown at this time whether impairment is a factor.
- Officers were responding to a call at the time of the crash.
- The citizen’s vehicle was not involved in the call the officers were responding to.
