HPD Officer Involved in Shooting | Houston

01.31.2021 | 1:40 AM | HOUSTON – An HPD officer observed a dark color BMW driving extremely reckless and driving at a high rate of speeds.

The driver committed multiple traffic violations. HPD unit attempted to make a traffic stop on that vehicle.

The vehicle failed to yield and a short pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle then crashed into a pole which disabled the vehicle.

When officers attempted to approach the suspect, the suspect fired multiple shots at the officers. One of the officers fired back at least once. The suspect then fled on foot.

Officers chased the suspect on foot and were able to take the suspect into custody. A resident witnessed the suspect toss a firearm over a fence and was able to show officers in what area. A firearm was recovered.

One of the officers sustained some debris injury to his arm possibly from glass. The suspect may be on bond at this time and is a felon.

No other injuries were reported.
