HPD Investigates Fatal Crash Linked to AutoZone Burglary in Houston
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 2-4-26 | 3:23 a.m.
LOCATION: Katy Freeway @ Witte Rd

DETAILS:
- Per Lt. Willkens “the crash fatality came in at around 3:13 in the morning. The burglary was at 1818 gessner Rd. At AutoZone suspects broken. They stole a bunch of car batteries they took off in a maroon sedan got down the road ended up getting onto Witte going southbound and they crashed into the wall of i10 at the feeder Road. The driver was trapped the other two were trapped as well so they were a total of three suspects. They all appear to be in their 30s. The driver was extracted by HFD, but did die. The other two were transported to hospitals. This was not a car chase; officers were only trying to find the suspect vehicle that had committed the burglary, and then they found the fatal accident, which ended up being our suspects, and they had the car batteries in the car.”
