Houston: Suspected DUI Crash Injures Children, Causes Gas Line To Burst Into Flames
04.19.2020 | 12:14 AM | HOUSTON – A suspected drunk-driving crash left two children injured when a truck crashed into a power pole and ruptured a cause line causing flames to shoot out from the ground, early Sunday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision into a pole with fire in the 4600 block of Mount Houston Road around 12:14 AM.
Units arriving on scene located a white pickup truck occupied by a male driver, female passenger, and two children that had crashed into a ditch after striking a power pole and rupturing a gas line.
Firefighter paramedics treated the driver and two children on scene before transporting them to an area hospital. The female passenger, reported to be the children’s mother, was not injured.
The impact of the crash caused the power pole to collapse and the gas line to burst into flames causing fire to shoot out from the ground.
Gas and power company officials were responding to the scene to assist in securing utilities.
Deputies investigating the cause of the crash believe alcohol may been a factor.
