Houston: Police Sergeant Killed By Domestic Violence Suspect

12.07.2019 | 6:00 PM | HOUSTON – A 32-year-old Houston Police Department sergeant was shot and killed by a domestic violence suspect who was later taken into custody, Saturday night.

Sergeant Christopher Brewster responded to reports of a domestic violence incident involving a male suspect armed with firearms at a home in the 7400 block of Avenue L around 6:00 PM.

The sergeant and and other officers located the residence but neither the victim or suspect were home.

While conducting an area check the sergeant located both involved parties and attempted to make contact.

An officer-involved shooting occurred and Sergeant Brewster was struck multiple times immediately after exiting his patrol vehicle.

Despite being severely wounded the sergeant was able to radio with a detailed description of the shooter.

The shooter, described as 25-year-old Arturo Solis, was seen by responding units fleeing the scene of the shooting and was quickly apprehended at De Zavala Elementary School near the intersection of 75th Street and Avenue C.

Sergeant Christopher Brewster, a 32-year-old veteran police officer, was pronounced deceased within an hour of being struck by gunfire.

The female victim who originally summoned police was uninjured and cooperating with law enforcement.

Solis is facing multiple charges and was ordered to be held without bail during an initial court appearance.
