Houston: Off-Duty Officer Shoots At Suspected Burglar
03.28.2019 | 2:00 AM | HOUSTON – An off-duty police officer opened fire on a suspected car burglar, Thursday morning.
Officers responded to the reported shooting in the area of Martin Luther King and Reed around 2:00 AM.
Units arriving on scene discovered an off-duty police officer had fired her weapon at a man she observed rifling through her personal vehicle.
According to initial reports the off-duty officer heard a noise and checked surveillance footage when she discovered the man apparently burglarizing her vehicle.
The officer retrieved her weapon and confronted the suspect at which time the officer was threatened and discharged a single shot towards the suspect.
The man ran from the scene and could not be located. It was not believed the bullet struck him.
Investigators responded to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and whether all policies were followed.
