Houston: Malfunctioning ATM Dispenses $100 Bills

11.26.2018 | 12:00 AM | HOUSTON – A malfunctioning ATM machines was dispensing $100 bills prompting large crowds before authorities could secure the scene, Monday morning.

A social media posting to a community group told residents of a malfunctioning ATM machine that was dispensing $100 bills instead of $10 and $20 bills during withdrawals.

As a result of the posting, numerous members of the community responded to the location and used debit gift cards purchased at a nearby store to make withdrawals.

During the commotion which lasted for hours, several fights broke out as individuals attempted to cash-in on the scheme.

Eventually, deputies responded to secure the ATM while bank officials responded.

It was unclear what prompted the malfunction or whether those taking advantage of the issue would be prosecuted.
