Houston: Firefighters Discover Illegal Game Room During Fire Response

11.23.2018 | 7:30 PM | HOUSTON – Firefighters responding to a reported structure fire at a church discovered a large illegal gambling operation, Friday night.

Firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire a local church in the 800 block of Turney Drive around 7:30 PM. Initial calls reported people trapped inside due to an electronic door lock.

Crews arriving on scene located the church but did not see any smoke for fire. As they entered the church to investigate they, firefighters discovered an illicit gaming operation with over 100 machines.

Deputies responded to the scene and detained the occupants inside the establishment while they investigated.

Further information regarding the illicit operation was not immediately available.
