Houston: Fire Engulfs Big Rig Hauling Jalapeños

12.07.2018 | 12:56 AM | HOUSTON – A big rig hauling jalapeños burned on a local freeway, early Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to reports of a big rig with a trailer on fire on the Southwest Freeway just past the I-610.

Crews arriving on scene located a big rig with a trailer engulfed in flames on the right shoulder. The driver was able to disconnect the cab of truck, leaving the trailer isolated.

Officials doused the blaze from the outside within 10 minutes before cutting open the trailer to ensure the fire had not spread.

The trailer was hauling a load of jalapeños at the time of the incident.
