Houston: Baby Safely Surrendered At Fire Station

01.07.2019 | 8:00 PM | HOUSTON – A healthy baby was dropped off at a local fire station, Monday night.

A citizen met Houston Fire Department’s Engine 58 at Station 58 as it returned from a call.

The citizen had a 6-8 month baby and advised the firefighters that she had been given the baby its mother to surrender it.

As part of their Safe Surrender program firefighters took custody of the child and evaluated it on scene.

The child was in good health and had no signs of injuries when it was safely surrendered.

State officials will be following up to care for the child.
