Between approximately 11:15 p.m. on February 7th and 1:15 a.m. on February 8th, 2026, firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a horse rescue at a stable near Century Boulevard and Orange Avenue in Paramount, across from Hollydale Regional Park.
An Arabian horse had just returned home after giving rides to children at a party. As the truck and trailer were pulling into the stables, the horse’s right hind leg broke through the trailer’s floorboard, leaving the animal trapped and thrashing, which caused injury. During the struggle, the horse also forced its right front leg through the floor, leaving two legs stuck inside the damaged trailer.
Firefighters were unable to intervene directly without the horse being tranquilized, and a veterinarian was en route. In the meantime, a woman who helps care for the horse rushed home to retrieve tools, returned to the scene, and began coordinating the rescue efforts. Alongside the horse’s owner and others from the stable, they cut and pulled apart portions of the trailer to free the animal.
After approximately two hours, the horse was successfully pulled from the trailer and collapsed onto the ground. Those on scene immediately began tending to its injuries. After about 10 minutes of rest, the horse was helped back to its feet. The owner stated that as long as the horse can walk, it will not be euthanized.
The owner is currently asking for assistance with veterinary expenses as the horse begins recovery.
