Horrific Wrong Way Freeway DUI Crash | San Diego

09.26.2021 | 2:19 AM | SAN DIEGO – The California Highway Patrol received a call of an unknown vehicle going Southbound in the Northbound lanes of the I-5 freeway near Sea World Dr. A few minutes later, CHP received reports of a vehicle accident on the Westbound I-8 freeway near Taylor St. First Responders arrived and found a Black BMW sedan along with a Silver Honda sedan that appeared to have collided head-on. It is unknown if the driver of the BMW is wrong way driver. The driver of the Silver Honda sedan was extricated from the vehicle and transported with serious injuries to a local trauma hospital. The driver of the BMW was also transported to a local hospital, his injuries are believed to be minor. The California Highway Patrol has confirmed the incident was DUI related.
