Honda Bursts Into Flames After Crashing Into Power Pole
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 5-10-23, 11:06 p.m.
LOCATION: Tyler St & Indiana Ave

DETAILS:
- Riverside Police Department and Riverside Fire Department responded to a reported car, A white Honda Civic, that had veered off the road at a high rate of speed, sheared a fire hydrant and hit a power pole.
- When the first responding units arrived, they found one car with heavy damage against the power pole and the car on fire.
- Fire fighters assessed the situation because the car was against a high voltage power pole, they had to wait for Riverside Public Utilities to arrive on scene and shut down the sheared hydrant that the car was parked on and also shut off power to the pole.
- After a few minutes, the power was shut down and they were able to attack the fire.
- The driver of the car was given field sobriety tests and she failed and was arrested for DUI (On camera).
- The power is currently out for blocks, including on the opposite side of the freeway, affecting the Galleria at Tyler Mall and parts of the freeway.
- According to Riverside Public Utilities website https://www.riversideca.gov/outages/v2/index.html, power will be out for several hours and into the morning and it is affecting over 1500 customers.
- No one was injured in the collision.
