Hollywood: Shoplifter Shot Dead By Security Guard

12.02.2018 | 8:10 PM | HOLLYWOOD – Detectives were investigating the circumstances that led to a suspected shoplifter being shot dead, Sunday evening.

Officials responded to the reported shooting at a Walgreen’s drug store at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street around 8:10 PM.

Officers arriving on scene discovered that a suspected shoplifter had been shot by a security guard at the store.

Firefighters paramedics arriving on scene treated the suspect on scene before transporting him to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Initial reports from the scene indicate a security guard had attempted to stop the suspected shoplifter when the man became irate and a fight ensured.

During the fight the security guard reportedly shot the man in the upper body.

The store was closed and the area cordoned off while police investigated the circumstances that led to the shooting.
