Hit & Run Vehicle vs. Hydrant Sends Water Soaring

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 3-21-24, 10 p.m.
LOCATION: Trautwein Rd/Mission Village Dr
AREA/CITY: Riverside
DETAILS:

1. Riverside Fire Department, Riverside Police Department responded to a reported hit & run, vehicle vs. a fire hydrant.
2. When units arrived, they found a hydrant shooting water about 100 feet into the air and no vehicles in sight.
3. Western Municipal Water District was summoned and arrived about 30 minutes later.
4. The water was shut off after thousands of gallons of water went several blocks down the road and into drains.
5. Police are investigating the incident.
