Historic One-Room Schoolhouse Destroyed By Fire

A historic one-room schoolhouse that had been converted into a residence was heavily damaged in a fire Monday morning in Upper Hanover Township.

At around 8:00 a.m. on July 27, 2026, firefighters responded to the 1200 block of Saint Pauls Church Road after reports of a structure fire.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire conditions throughout the former one-room schoolhouse, which had been converted into a home.

Firefighters from more than three counties responded to assist in battling the blaze, working together to bring the fire under control and protect nearby properties.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has not been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
