Historic Military Hangar Destroyed In 3 Alarm Fire

LOCATION: Near the intersection of Warner Ave & Legacy Rd
CITY: Tustin
DETAILS:
- Just before 1 AM Tuesday morning, reports of a fire near one of the historic MCAS Tustin hangars was made.
- Units from the Orange County Fire Authority arrived and found an outside fire well established on the outside of a hangar.
- A request for additional resources and water was requested by the Incident Commander.
- A second alarm was dispatched bringing units from Anaheim and Costa Mesa.
- The exterior of the north hangar caught fire and flames reached the top of the north hangar
- Soon after a third alarm rang due to the size of the fire and the want to limit the damage to the hangar.
- Incident command made the decision to go into defensive mode to prevent the spread of fire to other buildings and property on the old base.
- Arson investigators are en route to determine the cause of the fire.
