High-Speed Stolen Vehicle Pursuit

DETAILS:
- An ECPD officer spotted a reported stolen Hyundai with 3 males inside.
- An attempt to stop them ended with the driver fleeing at high speeds.
- The pursuit went from el Cajon south to Chula Vista.
- The pursuit turned north, went into the City of San Diego, and headed east.
- The driver was fleeing at speeds at over 100 mph.
- Officers backed up and allowed the SDSO ASTREA helicopter to follow the suspects from the air.
- The driver then drove into Spring Valley and then into the Bonita area.
- As they reached the Morrison Pond County Park area along Sweetwater Rd, the car started to slow, and they drifted into the oncoming lane and stopped on the shoulder.
- The two passengers were able to flee on foot (see video), but the driver was captured at gunpoint.
- A large manhunt took place, and the helicopter spotted the two hiding in the heavy brush and made callouts to them.
- Both males surrendered without further incident.
- The Pursuit covered many miles and lasted for over an hour,
