High Speed Crash Claims The Life Of One

A Moreno Valley resident was killed in a high-speed crash Tuesday in Riverside.
Officers from the Riverside Police Department received a call from the city’s Public Safety Communications Center at approximately 6:15 p.m. Tuesday regarding a collision at Sycamore Canyon Boulevard and Cottonwood Avenue. When they arrived at the scene, they found two people trapped in a 2017 Nissan 370Z, according to Sgt. Emilio Angulo of the Riverside Police Department’s Traffic Bureau.
According to police, the preliminary investigation determined that the 29-year-old motorist was driving the Nissan south on Sycamore Canyon Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the , 2-seater sports car and collided into a tree.
Both people in the car were freed and taken to a hospital, where the passenger was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver, who is also a Moreno Valley resident, was listed in stable condition.
It was unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash, Angulo said
