HazMat And Bomb Squad Respond To Brea Apartment
A hazardous materials investigation prompted a large emergency response at an apartment complex in Brea on the morning of July 6, 2026.
At approximately 11:53 a.m., the Brea Fire Department and Brea Police Department responded to reports of a suspicious odor coming from an apartment in the 100 block of Sather Court.
After entering the residence, firefighters discovered suspicious materials inside the apartment, prompting requests for both a Hazardous Materials Team and a Bomb Squad.
Additional resources, including mutual aid personnel from the Huntington Beach Fire Department, responded to assist with the investigation.
Police detained and questioned one individual as investigators worked to determine the nature of the materials found inside the apartment.
Authorities have not announced whether the materials posed an immediate danger to the surrounding community or if any criminal charges are anticipated.
