Harris County Sheriff Deputy Killed After Being Ambushed

AREA/CITY: Northeast Harris County
DETAILS:

  1. HCSO deputies and investigators responded to an aggravated assault in progress at a Little Caesars at 16500 Wallis ville rd.
  2. Arriving units learned that the clerk at Little Caesars had been assaulted.
  3. The suspect came into location to pick up a pizza. He was upset because the order was incorrect.
  4. He then verbally assaulted the employee, then produced a firearm and pistol whipped the employee before fleeing the location.
  5. The employee was able to provide a description of the suspect and vehicle.
  6. They do have video surveillance of the incident.
  7. Other undercover units searched an area that the vehicle has showed up on the Flock system.
  8. The undercover deputy located the vehicle.
  9. He may have had radio issues but was on the phone with another deputy.
  10. He was then ambushed by the suspect.
  11. Units went to his location and found his vehicle with multiple bullet holes.
  12. They also found the deputy with multiple gun shot wounds.
  13. They transported the deputy by patrol car to LBJ Hospital.
  14. The 28 year old deputy, 5 year veteran of the HCSO,  succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
  15. He was part of the Violent Person’s Task Force.
  16. Suspect is described as a black male, wearing a hat with a black jersey with unknown writing on it.
  17. SWAT teams are set up on two locations. They do believe they know who the suspect is.
