Hanau: Eleven Dead, Several Others Injured After Hookah Bar Shootings

02.19.2020 | 10:00 PM | HANAU, GERMANY – Eleven people were dead and several others were seriously wounded after a gunman opened fire at two hookah bars, Wednesday night.
The shootings were first reported around 10:00 PM when at least one suspect entered the Midnight hookah bar located in the center of Hanau, Germany.
Three people were struck and killed in the front of the first bar before the suspects fled to a second bar in the Kesselstadt, a neighborhood in western Hanau.
The gunman opened fire at the second hookah bar, Arena Bar & Cafe, killing five others at the location before fleeing in a dark colored vehicle.
After a massive manhunt the suspect was located deceased in a vehicle along with another deceased victim.
Several individuals were also injured in the two shootings but it was unclear where they sustained their injuries.
Reports indicate at least one of those victims later succumbed to their injuries at an area hospital raising the death toll of the incident to eleven.
Despite earlier reports of multiple suspects, police are not reporting that no other individuals are outstanding.
The motive behind the shootings was not immediately clear.
The city of Hanau, in the state of Hessen, is located about 15 miles east of Frankfurt, Germany and has a population of about 90,000.
