Hacienda Heights: Suspected Fireworks Start 15-Acre Brush Fire

06.09.2020 | 8:21 PM | HACIENDA HEIGHTS – Fireworks are believed to have sparked a fire that quickly scorched 15-acres of brush, Tuesday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a vegetation fire burning near the intersection of Punta del Este Drive and Colima Road around 8:21 PM.

Crews arriving on scene located a fire burning in three acres of light-to-medium brush on a hillside overlooking homes.

Firefighters worked to battle the blaze from the ground and air and evacuated some homes as a precaution.

The fire was eventually contained after burning about 15 acres.

Officials suspect the fire was caused by illegal fireworks.
