Hacienda Heights: Five Detained After Discharging Fireworks Near Colima Fire Burn Site

06.15.2020 | 1:35 AM | HACIENDA HEIGHTS – Five people were detained and issued citations for discharging fireworks in a high-fire danger area where a fireworks-related brush fire recently burned, early Monday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of fireworks going off at a cul-de-sac in the 3400 block of Punta Del Este Drive around 1:35 AM.

Deputies arriving on scene located a group of five adults that had parked at the end of the cul-de-sac and hiked down to a trail closed trail before setting of illegal fireworks.

The group was detained by deputies and written citations by a La Habra Heights Fire Department official.

The area where the group was discharging fireworks is close to the site of the 15-acre Colima Fire which is believed to have been sparked by illegal fireworks only less than a week prior on June 9th, 2020.
