Gunfire Shuts Down 10 Freeway As CHP Searches For Evidence

A reported freeway shooting prompted the California Highway Patrol to shut down lanes of Interstate 10 early Sunday morning while investigators searched for evidence.

At approximately 2:28 a.m. on July 26, 2026, Baldwin Park CHP received reports of a vehicle that had been shot at while traveling on the eastbound 10 Freeway.

According to investigators, the victim continued driving before stopping near the Indian Hill Avenue off-ramp in the City of Claremont, where officers began their investigation.

As part of the investigation, CHP temporarily closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Fairplex Drive in Pomona, allowing officers to walk the freeway in search of shell casings and other evidence.

Investigators believe the vehicle was struck by gunfire multiple times. Information regarding any victims or injuries has not been released.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
