Gunfire Erupts In Riverside Poly High Parking Lot

A large police investigation unfolded at Riverside Poly High School early Saturday morning after reports of gunfire and a vehicle collision.

At approximately 5:05 a.m. on July 5, 2026, Riverside Police officers responded to the school’s parking lot at 5450 Victoria Avenue following reports of a disturbance involving multiple vehicles and shots fired.

When officers arrived, they discovered evidence of a shooting as well as a collision within the parking lot.

One person was found injured and transported to a local hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Several individuals were detained as detectives worked to determine their involvement in the incident.

Video from the scene showed an extensive crime scene with approximately 100 evidence markers spread throughout the parking lot while investigators documented and collected evidence.

The Riverside Police Department’s Gang Unit and Forensics Technicians responded to assist with the investigation.

Police emphasized that no students were involved, and the incident occurred outside of school hours.
