Grand Fire Burns 60 Acres In Lancaster

At approximately 2:02 p.m. on May 16, 2026, firefighters responded to a fast-moving brush fire near Avenue G and 70th Street East in Lancaster.

The fire, named the Grand Fire, quickly grew to approximately 60 acres and prompted a two-alarm response as flames threatened nearby structures.

Authorities confirmed at least one structure caught fire during the incident.

Firefighters worked aggressively throughout the afternoon and reported forward progress of the blaze had been stopped by approximately 4:11 p.m.

Crews remained on scene conducting mop-up operations and strengthening containment lines.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
