Granada Hills: Two Motorcyclists Crash After Takeover Prompts Pursuit
05.13.2020 | 8:00 PM | LOS ANGELES – Two motorcyclists were injured after crashing while attempting to evade officers, Wednesday night.
Officers began following a group of approximately 50 motorcycles engaging in takeover-style events and driving recklessly near the intersection of Hayvenhurst Avenue and the SR-118 Freeway in Granada HIlls around 8:00 PM.
Several of the motorcyclists failed to yield when officers attempted to stop the group prompting a pursuit that quickly ended when two of the riders collided with each other causing one of the bikes to rear-end a pickup truck.
Firefighter paramedics treated both riders on scene before transporting them to area hospitals in unknown condition.
Several other motorcyclists related to the initial stop were later involved in several pursuits nearby.
Several riders were detained and at least a dozen citations were issued in connection with the takeover-style activities.
