Granada Hills: Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Ended With Spike Strips
06.09.2020 | 12:30 AM | LOS ANGELES – A suspect who fled from officers in a stolen vehicle was apprehended using spike strips, early Tuesday morning.
Officers attempted to stop a silver Kia Soul that had been reported stolen in the area of Foothill sand Hubbard in the Granada Hills area around 12:30 AM.
The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to officers and took off at high speeds forcing officers to call off the pursuit while a police helicopter tracked the suspect from above.
Units reengaged the pursuit and the suspect swerved towards an occupied police vehicle.
Two spike strips were successfully deployed causing the stolen vehicle to become disabled at the intersection of Andasol Avenue near Rinaldi Street.
The suspect was then taken into custody while attempting to walk away from the vehicle.
An ambulance transported the suspect to Holy Cross Medical Center for unkown reasons.
