Granada Hills: Police Find Rooster After Pursuit Crash

04.11.2020 | 11:00 PM | LOS ANGELES – A rooster was found inside the car of a suspect who crashed while fleeing from police, Saturday night.

Authorities attempted to stop a suspected DUI driver in a black older-model coupe on the westbound SR-118 Freeway near Hayvenhurst in the Granada Hills area around 11:00 PM.

The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to officers leading them on a short pursuit before crashing into a pole at the intersection of Reseda Boulevard and Rinaldi Avenue.

Officers quickly detained the driver without further incident.

The vehicle briefly caught flames but was snuffed out with a fire extinguisher.

Firefighter paramedics responded to the scene to treat the suspect for a broken arm sustained in the crash.

A rooster was also discovered inside the vehicle prompting an animal control response to transport the animal to an area shelter.

It was not immediately clear why the suspect fled from officers or what charges he might be facing.
