Gramercy Park: Pregnant Woman Injured, 25 Detained After Arrest Results In Skirmish

05.16.2020 | 4:15 PM | LOS ANGELES – A pregnant woman was injured, at least one person was arrested, and 25 others were detained after a skirmish broke out during an arrest at a park, Saturday evening.

Authorities responded to reports of man with a gun at the Jesse Owens Park located in the 9600 block of South Western Avenue, near Western Avenue, in the Gramercy Park area around 4:15 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a large group of individuals at the park attending a memorial barbecue for a man who passed away.

At some point officers attempted to make an arrest and the group fought with authorities prompting an urgent request for assistance.

Additional officers arriving on scene established a skirmish line and detained approximately 25 individuals. Four to six of the individuals detained were expected to be arrested, according to a police sergeant.

During the skirmish a pregnant woman was injured prompting firefighter paramedics to respond. She was rushed to an area hospital in unknown condition.
