Gramercy Park: Fight Breaks Out As Superior Grocers Employees Get First Dibs On Supplies
03.17.2020 | 7:10 PM | LOS ANGELES – A fight broke out after customers lined up outside a Superior Grocers store saw employees loading up a van of supplies before the store opened for the public, early Tuesday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a dispute at the Superior Grocers located in the 8800 block of South Western Avenue in the Gramercy Park area around 7:10 AM.
Units arriving on scene learned that customers in line had videotaped employees loading up a van with toilet paper and water bottles beyond the store’s limit of two per customer before the store opened.
The large group of customers who had been waiting outside the store was upset with the manager prompting a police response but officers on scene determined no crime had occurred.
Tensions of hoarding have been rising amid the COVID-19 pandemic in expectation of shelter-in-place orders.
