Gilroy: Crews Fire Chars 2,000 Acres, Destroys Two Homes

07.05.2020 | 11:30 AM | GILROY – A fire dubbed the “Crews Fire” has charred 2,000 acres and is only 20% contained as of Monday morning.

The fire broke out around 11:30 AM in the area of Canada Road and Highway 152, Sunday afternoon.

Units arriving on scene located the rapidly spreading flamed and worked to contained the blaze.

By 7:30 AM on Monday morning the fire had burned over 2,000 acres, destroyed two homes and forced dozens of families to evacuate. Authorities said the fire was 20% contained.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and only one minor injury was reported.
