Gardena: Driver Shot While Fleeing Deputies

06.28.2020 | 10:48 PM | GARDENA – A suspect who fled police was injured after being shot by deputies, Sunday night.

Deputies attempted to stop a reckless driver on suspicion of DUI around 10:30 PM.

The driver of the vehicle fled from deputies before coming to a dead-end in the 15900 block of Atkinson Avenue around 10:48 PM.

Once blocked in by deputies the driver fled on foot and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

Firefighter paramedics treated and transported the suspect to an area hospital where he was expected to survive his injuries.

The scene of the shooting was cordoned off while authorities investigated.
