Garden Grove: Suspect Dead, Officer Hurt After Officer-Involved Shooting

02.26.2020 | 1:25 AM | GARDEN GROVE – An officer was hurt and a suspect was dead after a shooting broke out as the officer attempted to help at a traffic accident, early Tuesday morning.

A Garden Grove police officer was returning to the station and noticed a crash 2017 Dodge Challenger.

The officer stopped to help the motorist when a fight broke out.

The suspect and officer struggled before the officer shot the suspect.

Firefighter paramedics responded to the scene and treated the suspect and officer.

Both were transported to UCI Medical Center. The suspect was pronounced deceased at around 2:00 AM but the officer was released with only minor injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the crash and officer-involved shooting are under investigation.
