Garden Grove: Fatal Crash on SR-22

LOCATION: WB SR-22 east of Valley View St.

DETAILS:
- Just before midnight, calls were made to CHP 911 operators reporting a sedan that ran into the back of a bid rig trailer on the westbound SR-22 just east of Valley View Street in Garden Grove.
- Arriving units of the California Highway Patrol found a Honda Civic with heavy front end damage and the driver unresponsive behind the wheel.
- The driver of the big rig was uninjured
- Arriving units from the Orange County Fire Authority assessed the driver and found his injuries beyond medical aid and declared them deceased on scene.
- The cause of the crash is unknown but the big rig may have been stalled in lanes.
- It’s unknown if any extra factors such as impairment are factors in the collision at this time.
