Garden Grove: Bicyclist Critically Injured After Crash Involving Hit & Run DUI Driver
03.02.2020 | 11:00 PM | GARDEN GROVE – A bicyclist was critically injured after being struck by a suspected DUI driver who fled the scene, late Tuesday night.
Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a bicyclist at the intersection of Orangewood Avenue and Euclid Street around 11:00 PM.
Units arriving on scene found a bicyclist down in the roadway suffering from major injuries.
Firefighter paramedics treated the man on scene before transporting him to an area hospital in critical condition.
The driver that struck the scene, later identified as 26-year-old Victor Medina, was located about a quarter-mile away in a Chevrolet Suburban with fresh damage.
It was determined Medina was the driver that struck the bicyclist.
Officers administered field sobriety tests on scene before placing Medina under arrest on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and felony DUI.
The bicyclist had the right-of-way according to police investigating.
