Fullerton: Suspect Dead After Charging Officer With Knife
05.03.2020 | 9:27 PM | FULLERTON – A suspect who charged a police officer with a knife was dead after an officer-involved shooting, Sunday night.
A Fullerton police officer was driving when he spotted two adult males involved in an altercation near a pickup truck at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Lillie around 9:27 PM.
The officer stopped to investigate the altercation and requested additional units to assist.
The first suspect was armed with a stick but dropped the weapon and was quickly detained.
A second suspect exited the pickup truck armed with a knife and advanced towards officers while ignoring commands to stop.
An officer-involved shooting occurred as a result and the suspect was wounded.
Firefighter paramedics transported the suspect to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly after 10:00 PM.
The circumstances surrounding initial altercation and subsequent officer-involved shooting is under investigation.
