Fuel Tanker Crash Kills One
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 9:55 pm 11-3-24
LOCATION: 110 FWY Century

DETAILS:
- 100 gallons spilled out of aviation fuel tanker that holds about 1 thousand gallos
- 2 PEOPLE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL
- CHP plans to turn all traffic around and exit on the first onramp.
- THE DRIVER OF THE FUEL TRUCK TOLD ME that he blacked out and woke up in the crash.
- fire department wants everyone moved back 1 thousand feet.
- LAFD is concerned with peoples vehicles being turned on as the air is filled with fuel odor.
- Multi-vehicle collision resulting in a tank truck on its side. One patient trapped under the vehicle determined to be deceased (age/gender unknown). One additional patient (30 yo female) is being transported with minor injuries. The tank truck is carrying jet fuel and firefighters are working to contain any spilled fuel. There is no fire, collision only. Northbound 110 Freeway is closed at Manchester and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.
- This will be an extended duration operation. Firefighters used a redwood plug to dyke one leak in the tank however there are other small leaks as well. Vacuum trucks, Class B foam (used on flammable petroleum fires and spills) and sand are enroute to aid in the mitigation of the hazard. There is currently no fire. Northbound 110 Freeway will remain closed (Manchester) for an undetermined period of time. There are no additional patients (one 30yo female was transported with minor injuries and one patient determined dead on scene) at this time. Media queries regarding the collision are referred to CHP.
