Forest Falls Hit By Another Mudslide As Heavy Rain Pounds Mountains
Heavy rainfall triggered another significant mudslide in Forest Falls early Sunday morning, burying a section of Valley of the Falls Drive beneath several feet of mud and debris and forcing the roadway to close.
On October 11, 2026, the San Bernardino Mountains experienced heavy overnight and morning rainfall, prompting multiple flood watches and advisories across the county.
Around 6:30 a.m., first responders were dispatched to reports of a developing mudslide directly in front of San Bernardino County Fire Station 99 along Valley of the Falls Drive.
The mudslide occurred in the same location where a previous debris flow, just weeks earlier, swept a red Jeep into a nearby riverbed.
Although the latest mudslide initially appeared relatively minor, the debris was several feet deep and had completely buried approximately 30 yards of roadway.
A large loader was brought in to clear the road, repeatedly pushing heavy loads of mud and debris away from the affected area. However, additional material continued accumulating even as crews worked to remove it.
Multiple vehicles were unable to pass through the area while crews worked, and Valley of the Falls Drive was shut down due to the ongoing mudslide activity.
Forest Falls has experienced repeated destructive mudslides in recent years, leaving residents concerned as another round of heavy rainfall moved through the mountain community.
As of 9 a.m., no injuries or trapped individuals had been reported.
The situation remained active as crews continued working to clear the roadway and monitor the developing conditions.
