Ford Ranger Crashes into Disabled Bus on L-202 in Tempe

According to DPS:
Around 11:30 PM Thursday evening a Valley Metro bus was driving westbound on the L-202 near Scottsdale Road when it became disabled in the lanes of travel.
The bus driver activated his hazard lights to warn other drivers.
A blue Ford Ranger pickup truck driving westbound crashed into the back of the stalled bus at highway speed.
A private ambulance stopped at the scene of the collision and began rendering aid.
DPS and Tempe Fire were dispatched to the scene.
The L-202 West was closed down and all traffic was diverted off at Scottsdale Road.
The single male occupant of the Ford pickup was trapped in the mangled truck.
Tempe Fire arrived and extricated the driver before transporting him to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The Valley Metro bus driver was the only occupant on board and was also transported with non-life threatening injuries to a nearby hospital.
The L-202 was reopened with the left two lanes blocked as troopers worked to determine the details of the collision.
