First Snow of 2025 in San Bernardino Mountains
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 1..26.25 | 1:00 AM
LOCATION: San Bernardino Mountains
AREA/CITY: San Bernardino Mountains
DETAILS:
- The Storm is here, and it has already proved to be a potent storm in in just its first several hours.
- The storm brought immediate blizzard conditions to the mountain communities and the main highways.
- Whiteout conditions caused by heavy snow and punishing winds are impacting the entire stretch of Highway 18 from Crestline to Big Bear.
- It only took a few hours for the snowstorm to completely bury the snow.
- CHP and County fire have already been dispatched to multiple spin-outs and crashes caused by the slick roads.
- This is just night one. When the day starts, mountain communities and officials expect a slew of tourists to flock to the mountain early in the morning for snow play and to visit the snow resorts, and as always, that will come with dozens of spin-outs, pile-ups, and crashes.
- As of 12:30 AM, Chain control on Highway 18 is set up at Lake Gregory Drive in Crestline, and snow levels are expected to continue to drop overnight.
