Firefighters Rescue Dog From Santa Ana River Canal

DETAILS:
- Firefighters from the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a call regarding a Husky stuck in a water canal.
- When they arrived on scene, they found a large Husky named Teddy that had chased after a cat and jumped inside the waterway and was unable to get out.
- The canal is part of the city drainage system that runs into the Santa Ana River.
- Teddy was scared and eluded the firefighters for about an hour before they were able to catch him.
- After Teddy was captured, he was safely lifted out of the canal using the fire trucks ladder/pully system.
- Teddy declined an interview but was not harmed other than sore feet from trying to climb the cement wall.
- In the video you can also see Teddy’s dog sister come over and greet him, happy to see him once he was rescued.
- In the video you can see palm fronds with the dog when it is captured, those were stuck in the snare/catch pole and did not harm the Husky.
- Teddy’s owners did not want to do an SOT but they were extremely happy to get Teddy back safe and they were very grateful to the firefighters for rescuing him.
- The girls in the video are Teddys owners.
