Firefighters Go Swimming While Trying To Shut Off Sheared Hydrant

- A semi-truck with a trailer driver was backing up to the Ralph’s store loading dock when he hit the fire hydrant.
- Water was shooting over 50 ft into the air for approx 40 minutes.
- The parking lot was flooded, and the firefighters had a difficult time finding the shut-off valve.
- At times, the firefighters appeared to be swimming as they were trying to find the valve.
- After finding the valve, the water was shut down after approx. 40 minutes and the water is starting to drain.
- Water made it into the underground parking but was draining quickly.
