Firefighters Battle First Alarm House Fire | Glendale
12.16.2022 | 2:00 AM | GLENDALE – Fire crews from the cities of Glendale and Phoenix responded to reports of a house fire near the 6800 block of West Georgia Avenue around 2:00 AM. Upon arrival crews found heavy smoke and flames shooting from the gable ends of a single story residential structure. Crews quickly deployed handlines and made entry for fire attack. Minutes later the decision was made to pull all crews out of the structure as flames began shooting through the now compromised roof. The assignment was quickly balanced to a first alarm fire drawing several additional units to the scene including fire crews from the neighboring city of Peoria and Town of Tolleson. Crews assumed a defensive posture, fighting the fire from the buildings exterior as intense flames quickly consumed the house. The fire has since been extinguished and no nearby homes have been affected. An adult male and an elderly female have been displaced as a result of the blaze. Red Cross and crisis response teams are working to provide the displaced with resources. Fire investigators are currently working to determine what caused the fire.
