Firefighters Battle Exploding Gas Meters In Several Feet Of Snow | Crestline
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 9:45 PM | 3-2-23
LOCATION: San Bernardino Mountains
CITY: San Bernardino Mountains
DETAILS:
The new biggest problem that is starting to hit the mountain communities is exploding gas meters.
In the last 5 days there have now been multiple major residential structure fires of homes that have burned to the ground by the time fire fighters arrive.
In Crestline another structure fire was reported at around 9:41 PM.
Firefighters arrived on scene and found the side of home on fire with the gas meter destroyed and the gas line ignited and shooting flames into the air like a large blow torch.
Firefighters got quick knock down on the structure fire but the gas line continued to burn for a little over an hour until Edison arrived to shut the gas off.
The reporting parties along with my self assisted fire fighters with digging the fire hydrant out of the snow and getting hose lines laid.
The home was an Air BNB and no one was injured or in the home.
