Firefighter Hurt Battling Apartment Building Fire in Long Beach

12.04.2020 | 12:27 AM | LONG BEACH – Firefighters responded to a reported blaze that heavily damaged the upstairs of a condo-apartment building Friday morning. Firefighters arrived on scene to locate flames coming out the upstairs of a 2 story condo-like building located within a gated complex on the 1000 block of Park Plaza Drive. Firefighters began attacking the blaze, however it did extend to the roof and caused significant damage. During the firefight, a firefighter slipped and fell on the roof and injured his hand (2:43 in video) He was later taken to the hospital for assessment. At least one female occupant of the home safely exited the structure and was assessed by paramedics. Firefighters were able to knock much of the blaze within 25 minutes.
